Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Utilities and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 2.95% to hit a new 6-month low, while the MDAX index lost 2.72%, and the TecDAX index declined 3.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which fell 0.40% or 0.370 points to trade at 93.080 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) fell 1.25% or 2.400 points to end at 189.750 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was down 1.25% or 0.830 points to 65.480 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which lost 5.70% or 0.655 points to trade at 10.845 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) declined 5.31% or 3.400 points to end at 60.600 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) shed 4.72% or 0.720 points to 14.545.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which rose 1.11% to 57.250, Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which was up 0.13% to settle at 120.000 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which lost 0.35% to close at 54.010.
The worst performers were Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which was down 4.45% to 31.750 in late trade, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which lost 3.80% to settle at 57.380 and Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (XETRA:HNRGn) which was down 3.72% to 90.770 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 2.74% to 29.760, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 0.19% to settle at 86.600 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 1.844.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was down 9.75% to 169.000 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 7.47% to settle at 30.655 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was down 5.88% to 23.065 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 683 to 62 and 42 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 23.58 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.49% or 5.60 to $1158.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.37% or 0.98 to hit $40.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.41% or 1.12 to trade at $45.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.06% to 1.1360, while EUR/GBP rose 0.94% to 0.7232.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.83% at 94.97.
