Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 0.70% or 0.21 points to trade at 30.98 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 0.42% or 0.20 points to end at 48.04 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.35% or 0.27 points to 78.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 4.04% or 3.280 points to trade at 77.960 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 2.73% or 0.420 points to end at 14.990 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 2.18% or 3.40 points to 152.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 37 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.71% or 21.09 to $1257.49 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.19% or 0.58 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.72 to trade at $52.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1140, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8603.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 97.52.
