Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS), which rose 2.49% or 0.0920 points to trade at 3.7920 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) added 2.38% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.0860 and Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA) was up 2.17% or 0.0560 points to 2.6400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which lost 0.66% or 0.0825 points to trade at 12.4875 in late trade. Portugal Telecom (LISBON:PTC) declined 0.59% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.5060 and Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) shed 0.57% or 0.01 points to 0.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 47 to 19 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was up 1.24% or 0.81 to $65.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.03% or 1.22 to hit $61.42 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.40 to trade at $1193.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 2.21% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 1.21% to 0.7277.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.73% at 95.84.
