Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Industrials and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BRU:UMI), which rose 4.45% or 1.92 points to trade at 45.11 at the close. KBC (BRU:KBC) added 1.11% or 0.660 points to end at 59.920 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was down 0.25% or 0.100 points to 40.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BRU:UCB), which lost 3.16% or 2.19 points to trade at 67.04 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 2.79% or 0.75 points to end at 26.09 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) shed 2.76% or 0.48 points to 17.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 121 to 54 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.77% or 9.30 to $1212.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $57.00 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.14 to trade at $64.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.0967, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.7159.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.64% at 96.27.
