Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Telecom sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.85% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.97%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which rose 3.15% or 6.250 points to trade at 204.450 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 2.34% or 0.229 points to end at 10.015 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) was up 2.15% or 2.200 points to 104.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which lost 1.76% or 0.805 points to trade at 44.810 in late trade. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) declined 0.88% or 0.900 points to end at 101.400 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG) shed 0.48% or 0.700 points to 146.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which rose 3.34% to 49.811, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (XETRA:MTXGn) which was up 2.87% to settle at 83.070 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which gained 2.54% to close at 64.690.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 3.49% to 49.460 in late trade, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which lost 2.93% to settle at 19.065 and Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 2.53% to 28.900 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 4.28% to 103.100, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 4.07% to settle at 38.715 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which gained 3.61% to close at 3.850.
The worst performers were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 2.13% to 42.550 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 1.48% to settle at 9.655 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 0.64% to 12.500 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 503 to 228 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.90.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.40% or 5.00 to $1236.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 3.75% or 1.98 to hit $50.88 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.88% or 1.11 to trade at $58.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.00% to 1.1324, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7416.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 94.72.
