Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 2.12% or 0.0360 points to trade at 1.7330 at the close. Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) added 1.95% or 1.65 points to end at 86.30 and Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) was up 1.43% or 0.12 points to 8.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediolanum (MILAN:MED), which lost 7.81% or 0.630 points to trade at 7.435 in late trade. Azimut Holding (MILAN:AZMT) declined 7.42% or 1.98 points to end at 24.70 and Moncler SpA (MILAN:MONC) shed 1.95% or 0.33 points to 16.57.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 273 to 190 and 2 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.32% or 0.69 to $52.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.77% or 0.45 to hit $58.59 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.20 to trade at $1154.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1006, while EUR/GBP fell 0.56% to 0.7063.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.85.
