Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 3.90% or 0.85 points to trade at 22.65 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 3.88% or 0.56 points to end at 15.00 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 3.85% or 0.020 points to 0.530 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 1.06% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.930 in late trade. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) declined 0.83% or 0.05 points to end at 5.95 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 3.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 18 and 51 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 8.47% or 3.83 to $49.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 8.79% or 4.16 to hit $51.48 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.31% or 15.55 to trade at $1175.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.45% to 331.940, while USD/NGN rose 0.16% to 316.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.67% at 101.66.
