Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which rose 2.78% or 3650 points to trade at 134900 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 1.48% or 0.219 points to end at 15.002 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) was up 1.37% or 1.95 points to 144.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p), which lost 5.53% or 3.51 points to trade at 59.99 in late trade. Sollers (MCX:SVAV) declined 3.87% or 17.0 points to end at 422.0 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) shed 3.54% or 3.19 points to 87.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 83 and 9 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.91% to 33.930.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.48% or 5.60 to $1163.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.90% or 0.51 to hit $57.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.49 to trade at $62.51 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.64% to 55.468, while EUR/RUB fell 0.20% to 61.592.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 96.26.
