Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa), which rose 1.91% or 0.50 points to trade at 26.74 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 0.68% or 0.06 points to end at 9.48 and Vopak (AMS:VOPA) was up 0.67% or 0.31 points to 46.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which lost 4.81% or 6.25 points to trade at 123.75 in late trade. Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN) declined 3.69% or 0.70 points to end at 18.25 and Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) shed 1.71% or 1.19 points to 68.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 166 to 76 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.97% to 21.52.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.25% or 0.76 to $60.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.57% or 1.01 to hit $63.44 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.70 to trade at $1172.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1179, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.7133.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.66.
