Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP), which rose 2.78% or 1.58 points to trade at 58.46 at the close. Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) added 2.50% or 1.58 points to end at 64.72 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was up 2.28% or 0.06 points to 2.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which lost 5.09% or 3.92 points to trade at 73.08 in late trade. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) declined 4.13% or 2.18 points to end at 50.59 and Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) shed 3.68% or 2.41 points to 63.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 278 to 217 and 177 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 3.19% or 1.21 to $36.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.50% or 1.02 to hit $39.82 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.23% or 2.90 to trade at $1266.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.24% to 4.3217, while USD/PLN fell 0.36% to 3.9179.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.02.
