Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.27%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.56%, and the TecDAX index added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 2.81% or 0.595 points to trade at 21.770 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 1.67% or 0.240 points to end at 14.650 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was up 1.43% or 2.150 points to 152.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which lost 1.55% or 1.040 points to trade at 66.050 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 1.53% or 1.390 points to end at 89.610 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 1.13% or 0.145 points to 12.735.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 5.73% to 30.175, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was up 5.00% to settle at 30.135 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 3.35% to close at 51.000.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 1.04% to 37.490 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which lost 0.93% to settle at 33.430 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 0.85% to 42.990 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 3.01% to 38.315, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 2.64% to settle at 37.750 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 2.13% to close at 39.075.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which was down 4.59% to 3.805 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 3.32% to settle at 20.120 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 2.88% to 31.525 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 532 to 343 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.70% to 18.90.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.45 to $1213.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.47% or 0.71 to hit $47.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.72% or 0.35 to trade at $48.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0631, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.8555.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 101.02.
