Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financial Services, Telecom and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.14%, while the MDAX index lost 1.29%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which rose 0.85% or 0.110 points to trade at 13.110 at the close. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) added 0.51% or 0.480 points to end at 94.750 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) was up 0.19% or 0.200 points to 106.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which lost 2.80% or 3.200 points to trade at 111.000 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) declined 2.73% or 1.960 points to end at 69.960 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) shed 2.56% or 5.500 points to 209.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which rose 1.96% to 30.215, Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which was up 1.90% to settle at 31.400 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which gained 1.25% to close at 43.740.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 3.04% to 52.360 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 3.03% to settle at 28.450 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was down 2.85% to 45.740 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which rose 4.12% to 25.400, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 2.43% to settle at 128.500 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 2.18% to close at 126.500.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which was down 4.00% to 39.570 in late trade, Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which lost 3.25% to settle at 12.200 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was down 3.16% to 18.675 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 523 to 226 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.59% to 15.89.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.41% or 5.00 to $1203.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.84% or 0.91 to hit $50.50 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 2.65% or 1.57 to trade at $61.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1199, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7280.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 95.26.
