Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Jazztel (MADRID:JAZ), which rose 0.20% or 0.025 points to trade at 12.800 at the close. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MADRID:OHL) fell 0.29% or 0.060 points to end at 20.665 and Telefonica (MADRID:TEF) was down 0.48% or 0.065 points to 13.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MADRID:MTS), which lost 4.88% or 0.490 points to trade at 9.550 in late trade. Indra A (MADRID:IDR) declined 4.33% or 0.490 points to end at 10.820 and BBVA (MADRID:BBVA) shed 3.69% or 0.349 points to 9.104.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 173 to 37 and 3 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.35% or 4.20 to $1209.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.10% or 1.77 to hit $58.83 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.27% or 1.47 to trade at $66.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.70% to 1.1167, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.7215.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.34% at 94.90.
