Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.01%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which rose 2.39% or 2.70 points to trade at 115.75 at the close. Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) added 1.05% or 0.052 points to end at 4.982 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.04% or 0.63 points to 60.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.79% or 0.359 points to trade at 7.140 in late trade. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 2.40% or 0.92 points to end at 37.13 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) shed 1.72% or 1.29 points to 73.69.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rubis (PA:RUBF) which rose 2.50% to 91.83, Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) which was up 2.39% to settle at 115.75 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which gained 2.23% to close at 56.48.
The worst performers were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 4.79% to 7.140 in late trade, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which lost 4.48% to settle at 37.970 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which was down 2.40% to 37.13 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 325 to 278 and 104 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.59% to 24.05.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1276.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.58% or 0.31 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.41 to trade at $55.82 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0606, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8487.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.61.
