Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB), which rose 1.22% or 1.35 points to trade at 112.40 at the close. Bekaert (D) (BRU:BEKB) added 0.83% or 0.21 points to end at 25.49 and Colruyt (D) (BRU:COLR) was up 0.53% or 0.23 points to 43.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI), which lost 1.28% or 1.50 points to trade at 115.80 in late trade. GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) declined 0.68% or 0.13 points to end at 19.27 and KBC (BRU:KBC) shed 0.51% or 0.300 points to 58.470.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 71 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.54% or 6.50 to $1204.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.78% or 2.58 to hit $51.40 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.58% or 2.12 to trade at $56.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.00% to 1.0815, while EUR/GBP fell 0.75% to 0.7248.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 97.98.
