Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Hotels, Glass and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.48% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gourmet Master (TW:2723), which rose 10.00% or 22.00 points to trade at 242.00 at the close. Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) added 10.00% or 0.19 points to end at 2.09 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 10.00% or 0.88 points to 9.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirox (TW:3055), which lost 9.00% or 1.90 points to trade at 19.20 in late trade. Aoc (TW:6289) declined 8.59% or 0.11 points to end at 1.17 and Roo Hsing (TW:4414) shed 5.07% or 1.35 points to 25.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 459 to 296 and 96 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.70% or 0.27 to $38.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.20% or 0.08 to hit $40.31 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.23% or 2.90 to trade at $1256.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.21% to 32.705, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1984.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.24.
