Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Building & Construction and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 2.78% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Ferrovial (MC:FER), which fell 0.86% or 0.165 points to trade at 18.990 at the close. Bankinter (MC:BKT) fell 1.01% or 0.062 points to end at 6.045 and Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) was down 1.04% or 0.051 points to 4.855 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL), which lost 8.36% or 0.399 points to trade at 4.373 in late trade. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 7.41% or 0.243 points to end at 3.036 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) shed 6.35% or 0.103 points to 1.520.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 205 to 15 and 4 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.84% or 19.80 to $1093.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 6.44% or 2.01 to hit $29.19 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 6.43% or 1.99 to trade at $28.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.05% to 1.0979, while EUR/GBP rose 2.02% to 0.7691.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.60% at 98.52.
