Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 11.26% or 0.1385 points to trade at 1.3680 at the close. Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) added 6.56% or 69.80 points to end at 1133.90 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 4.69% or 2.590 points to 57.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which lost 3.11% or 1.75 points to trade at 54.45 in late trade. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 2.42% or 0.0019 points to end at 0.0753 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) shed 1.67% or 1.48 points to 87.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 135 to 62 and 5 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.06% to 39.070.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.43% or 4.60 to $1079.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.47% or 0.54 to hit $36.22 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.89% or 0.70 to trade at $36.52 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.24% to 73.305, while EUR/RUB fell 0.06% to 78.673.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 99.49.
