Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Energy, Banking and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were mBank (WA:MBK), which rose 6.19% or 18.25 points to trade at 313.25 at the close. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) added 6.18% or 0.16 points to end at 2.75 and Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) was up 5.98% or 15.15 points to 268.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eurocash SA (WA:EUR), which lost 5.44% or 2.83 points to trade at 49.17 in late trade. Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) declined 3.62% or 0.83 points to end at 22.12 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) shed 3.13% or 3.35 points to 103.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 291 to 265 and 120 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.89% or 0.33 to $36.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.98% or 0.40 to hit $39.72 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.38% or 4.10 to trade at $1072.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.04% to 4.3466, while USD/PLN rose 0.73% to 3.9731.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 97.86.
