France shares higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.10%

Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Automobiles & Parts and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.10%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.31%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PARIS:PUBP), which rose 6.18% or 4.47 points to trade at 76.81 at the close. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) added 4.09% or 3.71 points to end at 94.45 and Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) was up 3.83% or 0.140 points to 3.800 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which lost 1.52% or 0.14 points to trade at 8.84 in late trade. Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) declined 1.50% or 0.69 points to end at 45.24 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) shed 1.39% or 0.69 points to 48.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ingenico (PARIS:INGC) which rose 7.54% to 113.45, Publicis Groupe SA (PARIS:PUBP) which was up 6.18% to settle at 76.81 and Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which gained 6.03% to close at 8.350.

The worst performers were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which was down 5.31% to 6.30 in late trade, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which lost 4.11% to settle at 44.350 and Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was down 2.42% to 0.604 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 506 to 401 and 44 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.76% to 20.63.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.67% or 8.00 to $1201.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.76% or 0.44 to hit $57.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.57 to trade at $62.88 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0761, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7189.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 97.95.
