Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecom, Technology and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.98%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.39%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn), which rose 2.79% or 2.390 points to trade at 87.990 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 2.42% or 0.395 points to end at 16.720 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) was up 2.24% or 2.120 points to 96.870 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which lost 0.75% or 0.800 points to trade at 105.500 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 0.55% or 0.065 points to end at 11.760 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) shed 0.38% or 0.050 points to 13.060.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which rose 2.56% to 53.700, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 2.40% to settle at 97.680 and Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which gained 2.04% to close at 56.518.
The worst performers were A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which was down 5.25% to 54.470 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 2.05% to settle at 13.150 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 1.98% to 25.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 5.39% to 3.675, Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was up 2.44% to settle at 19.130 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which gained 1.89% to close at 12.430.
The worst performers were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 3.58% to 43.500 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which lost 3.18% to settle at 34.505 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 1.95% to 12.600 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 390 to 351 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.39% to 15.51.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.25% or 3.00 to $1201.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 0.93% or 0.47 to hit $50.05 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.86% or 1.14 to trade at $59.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.89% to 1.1077, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.7256.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 95.98.
