Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Hotels, Semiconductor and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc (TW:3437), which rose 9.96% or 3.35 points to trade at 37.00 at the close. CMC Magnetics Corp (TW:2323) added 9.95% or 0.380 points to end at 4.200 and JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) was up 9.84% or 2.50 points to 27.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thunder Tiger Corp (TW:8033), which lost 5.48% or 0.51 points to trade at 8.80 in late trade. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 5.41% or 1.60 points to end at 27.95 and Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) shed 5.26% or 1.00 points to 18.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 423 to 341 and 112 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.01% or 0.49 to $48.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.95% or 0.48 to hit $51.24 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.46% or 5.82 to trade at $1266.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.15% to 30.141, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2262.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.01.
