Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics (TW:3504), which rose 10.00% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.15 at the close. Kpt Industries (TW:1805) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and In-Win Dev (TW:6117) was up 9.87% or 1.85 points to 20.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which lost 7.12% or 1.20 points to trade at 15.65 in late trade. Biostar (TW:2399) declined 7.08% or 0.80 points to end at 10.50 and Rexon Indu (TW:1515) shed 6.44% or 1.45 points to 21.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 452 to 302 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.59% or 0.30 to $51.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.70% or 0.37 to hit $53.30 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.40 to trade at $1281.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 30.413, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2265.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 99.61.
