Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 3.57% or 0.082 points to trade at 2.378 at the close. Snam (MI:SRG) added 1.87% or 0.066 points to end at 3.590 and Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) was up 1.62% or 0.0115 points to 0.7215 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 5.39% or 1.1100 points to trade at 19.5000 in late trade. UBI Banca (MI:UBI) declined 4.66% or 0.1020 points to end at 2.0860 and Saipem (MI:SPMI) shed 2.91% or 0.0127 points to 0.4243.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 269 to 142 and 29 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.59% or 0.30 to $51.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.26% or 0.14 to hit $54.08 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.78% or 9.15 to trade at $1178.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.0673, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8425.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 100.80.
