Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU), which rose 7.99% or 1.44 points to trade at 19.46 at the close. Leonardo Finmeccanica SpA (MI:LDOF) added 7.61% or 0.820 points to end at 11.590 and Tenaris (MI:TENR) was up 6.51% or 0.84 points to 13.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Snam (MI:SRG), which lost 4.48% or 0.176 points to trade at 3.750 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 3.86% or 0.0137 points to end at 0.3413 and Mediaset (MI:MS) shed 3.80% or 0.092 points to 2.328.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 253 to 164 and 25 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.56% or 0.70 to $45.68 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.37% or 0.63 to hit $46.67 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.70 to trade at $1278.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.82% to 1.0936, while EUR/GBP fell 1.28% to 0.8790.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 98.44.
