Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Randstad (AS:RAND), which rose 1.80% or 0.68 points to trade at 38.55 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) added 0.76% or 0.026 points to end at 3.450 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.76% or 0.120 points to 15.980 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 1.74% or 0.089 points to trade at 5.034 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 1.58% or 0.40 points to end at 24.85 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 0.96% or 0.093 points to 9.546.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 81 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.78% to 19.63.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 4.23% or 1.98 to $44.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 4.48% or 2.17 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.66% or 8.85 to trade at $1344.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1107, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.8431.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 96.19.
