Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.43% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index declined 0.66%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 1.60% or 0.02 points to trade at 1.27 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 1.59% or 0.010 points to end at 0.640 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was up 1.30% or 0.007 points to 0.547 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which lost 2.98% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.456 in late trade. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) declined 2.34% or 0.030 points to end at 1.250 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) shed 1.96% or 0.012 points to 0.599.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which rose 14.78% to 2.64, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 3.66% to settle at 0.850 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which gained 1.28% to close at 1.58.

The worst performers were Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 3.23% to 0.600 in late trade, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which lost 2.42% to settle at 12.10 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 2.38% to 0.820 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 13 to 13 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 fell and 8 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.21% or 1.02 to $47.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.13% or 1.02 to hit $48.85 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.86% or 10.95 to trade at $1283.65 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.16% to 4.1599.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 94.55.
