Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which rose 9.93% or 7.00 points to trade at 77.50 at the close. Crowell Development Corp (TW:2528) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) was up 9.90% or 33.00 points to 366.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399), which lost 5.68% or 1.00 points to trade at 16.60 in late trade. Sinbon Electronics Co Ltd (TW:3023) declined 5.17% or 3.70 points to end at 67.80 and Universal Cement Corp (TW:1104) shed 4.79% or 1.17 points to 23.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 420 to 331 and 126 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.57 to trade at $1217.87 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 30.378, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2239.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 95.47.
