Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.22%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 8.39% or 0.30 points to trade at 3.88 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 4.29% or 0.59 points to end at 14.47 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 2.93% or 1.68 points to 58.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which lost 0.96% or 0.200 points to trade at 20.690 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.07% or 0.01 points to end at 14.29 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) gained 0.12% or 0.20 points to 160.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which rose 12.53% to 100.40, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was up 8.39% to settle at 3.88 and Adocia (PA:ADOC) which gained 7.86% to close at 55.830.
The worst performers were Ipsen (PA:IPN) which was down 8.05% to 48.75 in late trade, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) which lost 0.96% to settle at 20.690 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 0.70% to 47.590 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 513 to 160 and 98 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.97% to 27.47.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.27% or 3.30 to $1231.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.37% or 0.80 to hit $34.55 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 0.52 to trade at $37.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0848, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7776.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 98.49.
