(Reuters) - Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson will miss the Premier League club's pre-season tour in the United States due to the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club with media reports linking him to a move away from Liberty Stadium.
The 27-year-old has been at Swansea since 2014 and was a key member of Paul Clement's side last campaign, playing all 38 league matches and scoring nine goals as the team staved off relegation to finish 15th.
"We can confirm that Gylfi Sigurdsson will not travel with the squad for our pre-season tour of the USA," Swansea said on their official twitter account.
"Having played v Barnet last night, Gylfi did not feel in the right frame of mind to travel due to the current uncertainty over his future."
The Iceland international played in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to League Two side Barnet in the first pre-season match but will skip Swansea's three-match tour, which begins with a match against Philadelphia Union on July 15.
