Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.27% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.85% or 0.150 points to trade at 5.407 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.89% or 0.905 points to end at 48.700 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 1.48% or 0.66 points to 44.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad (AS:RAND), which lost 4.54% or 1.80 points to trade at 37.88 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 2.11% or 0.28 points to end at 13.24 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) shed 1.27% or 0.48 points to 37.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 76 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.31% to 17.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.02% or 0.44 to $42.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $44.92 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1327.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.0989, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8367.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
