Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which rose 5.73% or 0.0620 points to trade at 1.1440 at the close. Banif SA (LS:BANIF) added 3.33% or 0.0001 points to end at 0.0030 and Portucel (LS:PTI) was up 2.04% or 0.0720 points to 3.6060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 5.12% or 0.0028 points to trade at 0.0519 in late trade. Impresa SGPS (LS:IMPA) declined 2.89% or 0.0190 points to end at 0.6390 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 2.05% or 0.0430 points to 2.0570.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 30 to 19 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for December delivery was up 0.41% or 0.20 to $48.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $45.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1166.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.87% to 1.1127, while EUR/GBP fell 1.57% to 0.7238.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.34% at 96.35.
