Investing.com – Peru equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the S&P Lima Juniors, Banking & Financials and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Unacem (LM:CEL), which rose 2.50% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.640 at the close. Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) added 2.32% or 0.290 points to end at 12.790 and Corporacion Aceros Arequipa SA (LM:ARE) was up 2.27% or 0.010 points to 0.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Panoro (LM:PML), which lost 10.23% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.079 in late trade. Atacocha (LM:ATB) declined 3.81% or 0.004 points to end at 0.101 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) shed 2.58% or 0.005 points to 0.189.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 11 to 8 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 2.76% or 1.04 to $36.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 2.86% or 1.08 to hit $36.71 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.68% or 7.30 to trade at $1060.70 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.26% to 3.3988, while EUR/PEN fell 0.16% to 3.7193.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 98.30.
