Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Transportation & Logistics and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.05%, while the MDAX index lost 0.10%, and the TecDAX index added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which rose 1.82% or 0.225 points to trade at 12.585 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 0.55% or 0.075 points to end at 13.610 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 0.17% or 0.350 points to 210.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which lost 3.58% or 0.595 points to trade at 16.005 in late trade. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) declined 3.07% or 0.875 points to end at 27.590 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 2.94% or 0.885 points to 29.195.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 2.50% to 18.450, Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was up 2.36% to settle at 58.110 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which gained 2.07% to close at 42.37.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 4.54% to 16.705 in late trade, Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which lost 3.76% to settle at 94.830 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which was down 3.64% to 103.100 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 8.11% to 14.800, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was up 5.18% to settle at 26.900 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which gained 3.41% to close at 6.799.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 14.26% to 9.020 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which lost 5.45% to settle at 5.184 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 3.32% to 36.110 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 427 to 311 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 22.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.85% or 22.10 to $1214.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.82% or 0.50 to hit $61.25 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 1.00 to trade at $68.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.37% to 1.1367, while EUR/GBP rose 0.92% to 0.7222.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.15% at 93.62.
