Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Construction & Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.95% or 1.59 points to trade at 83.16 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.25% or 0.28 points to end at 22.74 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 0.97% or 0.05 points to 5.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.06% or 0.17 points to trade at 16.30 in late trade. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 0.69% or 0.27 points to end at 38.78 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.64% or 0.370 points to 57.280.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 62 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.60% or 6.50 to $1069.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.52% or 1.34 to hit $36.76 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.73% or 1.03 to trade at $36.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.0977, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.7376.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.94.
