Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.90%, while the MDAX index added 2.15%, and the TecDAX index climbed 3.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which rose 5.04% or 0.785 points to trade at 16.375 at the close. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) added 4.28% or 5.450 points to end at 132.750 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) was up 4.09% or 1.120 points to 28.530 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which added 1.03% or 2.100 points to trade at 205.800 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) added 1.29% or 1.210 points to end at 95.200 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) gained 1.31% or 1.210 points to 93.410.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 4.72% to 79.670, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was up 3.64% to settle at 14.940 and Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which gained 3.55% to close at 47.280.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which was down 0.20% to 60.920 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 0.16% to settle at 16.040 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was up 0.22% to 6.749 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 24.30% to 24.780, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 7.67% to settle at 32.910 and United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which gained 6.41% to close at 42.000.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 1.34% to 5.393 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 0.12% to settle at 3.473 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was up 0.63% to 11.110 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 588 to 161 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 26.64.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.36% or 4.20 to $1163.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $52.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $58.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.16% to 1.1164, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.7202.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.72% at 95.97.
