Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.16% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Emerging Displ (TW:3038), which rose 9.94% or 0.64 points to trade at 7.08 at the close. Via Tech (TW:2388) added 9.86% or 0.55 points to end at 6.13 and Mag Tech (TW:2358) was up 6.98% or 0.60 points to 9.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452), which lost 10.00% or 3.20 points to trade at 28.80 in late trade. Twn Taffeta Fa (TW:1454) declined 10.00% or 1.06 points to end at 9.54 and Logah (TW:3593) shed 10.00% or 0.90 points to 8.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 627 to 217 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.00% or 0.45 to $45.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.63% or 0.31 to hit $49.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.10 to trade at $1087.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 31.630, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1959.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 97.51.
