LONDON (Reuters) - Boris Johnson wants Britain to have completed any Brexit transition period and fully left the European Union "well before" the next scheduled election in 2022, the favourite to be the next prime minister said on Wednesday.
"We should come out well before the next election," he told the ITV (LON:ITV) Peston programme.
Johnson has proposed a standstill agreement with Brussels where trade between the two sides will not face tariffs or quotas while they negotiate a future trade agreement. Brussels has said it will not renegotiate the withdrawal terms it has already agreed with outgoing premier Theresa May.
