Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.55%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 6.59% or 0.660 points to trade at 10.670 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 3.95% or 0.500 points to end at 13.155 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 3.11% or 3.400 points to 112.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which lost 0.92% or 0.750 points to trade at 80.800 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) declined 0.35% or 0.300 points to end at 86.130 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 0.03% or 0.005 points to 17.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which rose 5.75% to 21.535, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 3.69% to settle at 38.500 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which gained 3.54% to close at 27.185.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which was down 1.69% to 16.615 in late trade, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which lost 1.62% to settle at 7.980 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 0.47% to 57.430 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which rose 4.80% to 41.135, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.73% to settle at 6.064 and Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which gained 4.00% to close at 3.224.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 2.09% to 26.240 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 1.70% to settle at 176.550 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which was down 0.86% to 12.700 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 439 to 250 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.13% to 19.75.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.57% or 6.50 to $1134.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.73% or 0.34 to hit $46.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.58 to trade at $48.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.1020, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7144.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 96.93.
