Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LS:SEM), which rose 5.14% or 0.6350 points to trade at 13.0000 at the close. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) added 2.79% or 0.0290 points to end at 1.0670 and Sonae (LS:YSO) was up 1.25% or 0.0130 points to 1.0550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included REN (LS:RENE), which lost 1.20% or 0.0340 points to trade at 2.8000 in late trade. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) declined 1.18% or 0.0200 points to end at 1.6800 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) shed 1.11% or 0.1400 points to 12.4200.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 25 to 25 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was down 1.50% or 0.47 to $30.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.20% or 0.06 to hit $30.50 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.54% or 5.90 to trade at $1091.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.0853, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7509.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 99.11.
