Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 3.03% or 35.45 points to trade at 1205.10 at the close. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) added 2.51% or 19.70 points to end at 804.85 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 2.11% or 49.75 points to 2411.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which lost 1.46% or 81.40 points to trade at 5491.90 in late trade. AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) declined 1.30% or 7.85 points to end at 594.35 and Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA) shed 1.20% or 35.75 points to 2945.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 1.96% to 2407.35, Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was up 1.86% to settle at 76.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which gained 1.61% to close at 271.85.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.48% to 5483.60 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which lost 1.15% to settle at 2945.75 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.11% to 594.45 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 785 to 689 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1469 rose and 1221 declined, while 224 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.47% to 14.9400.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.54% or 7.05 to $1317.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.33% or 0.58 to hit $44.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.56 to trade at $46.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.17% to 66.963, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 74.7400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 95.85.
