Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Tourism and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 1.38% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Vestel (IS:VESTL), which rose 9.02% or 0.440 points to trade at 5.320 at the close. Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS) added 4.55% or 0.010 points to end at 0.230 and Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE) was up 4.24% or 0.480 points to 11.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alcatel Lucent Teletas (IS:ALCTL), which lost 5.80% or 0.360 points to trade at 5.850 in late trade. Koza Madencilik (IS:KOZAA) declined 5.32% or 0.050 points to end at 0.890 and Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL) shed 5.14% or 0.170 points to 3.140.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 302 to 108 and 1 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.77% or 8.30 to $1067.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.71% or 0.61 to hit $36.23 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.10 to trade at $38.41 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.15% to 2.9857, while EUR/TRY rose 0.41% to 3.2946.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 97.43.
