Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Impresa SGPS (LS:IMPA), which rose 0.81% or 0.0040 points to trade at 0.4990 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) added 0.04% or 0.0050 points to end at 12.0850 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was down 0.06% or 0.0010 points to 1.7010 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which lost 4.93% or 0.0520 points to trade at 1.0030 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 3.25% or 0.3140 points to end at 9.3510 and Semapa (LS:SEM) shed 2.91% or 0.3600 points to 12.0200.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 40 to 10 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was down 6.19% or 2.10 to $31.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 5.58% or 1.85 to hit $31.31 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.13% or 1.40 to trade at $1099.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.0890, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.7480.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 98.68.
