Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Media, Technology and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.42%, while the MDAX index fell 0.53%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 2.21% or 0.192 points to trade at 8.872 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.25% or 0.150 points to end at 12.130 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 0.54% or 0.110 points to 20.505 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 2.36% or 2.650 points to trade at 109.650 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 2.11% or 1.350 points to end at 62.510 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 1.42% or 0.930 points to 64.410.
The top performers on the MDAX were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which rose 2.28% to 29.365, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was up 1.86% to settle at 60.690 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 1.37% to close at 59.400.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 3.88% to 33.03 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 2.41% to settle at 91.200 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which was down 2.10% to 65.800 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 6.19% to 17.500, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.77% to settle at 48.000 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.46% to close at 34.990.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 6.17% to 55.990 in late trade, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which lost 3.24% to settle at 9.267 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 2.51% to 94.180 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 546 to 333 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.53% to 19.07.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.74% or 9.10 to $1235.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.96% or 1.23 to hit $40.27 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.58% or 1.13 to trade at $42.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1303, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7945.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 94.58.
