Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 2.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banif SA (LS:BANIF), which rose 25.00% or 0.0002 points to trade at 0.0010 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 7.14% or 0.3140 points to end at 4.7100 and Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) was up 4.68% or 0.0110 points to 0.2460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA), which lost 2.40% or 0.0090 points to trade at 0.3660 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) added 0.13% or 0.0110 points to end at 8.4680 and Impresa SGPS (LS:IMPA) gained 0.21% or 0.0010 points to 0.4700.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 40 to 10 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 3.01% or 1.15 to $39.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.39% or 1.23 to hit $37.54 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.50 to trade at $1063.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.0920, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7252.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 98.24.
