Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which rose 2.73% or 0.48 points to trade at 18.09 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) added 2.72% or 0.39 points to end at 14.74 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was up 2.68% or 0.30 points to 11.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which lost 5.15% or 0.93 points to trade at 17.12 in late trade. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 4.33% or 0.34 points to end at 7.51 and EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) shed 4.17% or 0.50 points to 11.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 158 to 151 and 7 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.35% to 48.22.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.92% or 10.80 to $1166.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.31% or 1.07 to hit $45.22 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.85% or 3.55 to trade at $120.83 .
USD/BRL was up 0.86% to 3.9418, while EUR/BRL rose 0.87% to 4.4708.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.07.
