China shares lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 1.57%

Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mobile and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite declined 1.57%, while the SZSE Component index declined 2.19%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Gong Da Tech (SS:600701), which rose 10.07% or 0.740 points to trade at 8.090 at the close. Js Future Land (SS:900950) added 10.04% or 0.073 points to end at 0.800 and Dacheng Pestic (SS:600882) was up 10.04% or 1.130 points to 12.380 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fynex Textile (SS:600493), which lost 10.00% or 1.900 points to trade at 17.100 in late trade. Wanli (SS:600847) declined 9.99% or 3.620 points to end at 32.600 and Chaodong Cem (SS:600318) shed 9.79% or 3.750 points to 34.560.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002236) which rose 7.17% to 42.75, AVIC Aircraft Co Ltd (SZ:000768) which was up 1.62% to settle at 33.27 and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co Ltd (SZ:000625) which gained 1.56% to close at 22.80.

The worst performers were Changjiang Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000783) which was down 6.32% to 17.05 in late trade, ZTE Corp (SZ:000063) which lost 4.80% to settle at 30.75 and Bank of Ningbo Co Ltd (SZ:002142) which was down 4.29% to 18.30 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 633 to 335 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 1.31% to 27.09 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.46% or 5.60 to $1219.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.63% or 0.38 to hit $59.51 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.23 to trade at $66.47 a barrel.

USD/CNY was up 0.07% to 6.2061, while EUR/CNY fell 0.15% to 7.0678.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 93.59.
