Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Basic Resources and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.24%, while the MDAX index declined 0.21%, and the TecDAX index added 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 1.15% or 1.050 points to trade at 92.110 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 1.00% or 0.170 points to end at 17.190 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.79% or 0.6500 points to 83.2100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 1.80% or 0.295 points to trade at 16.135 in late trade. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) declined 1.58% or 2.70 points to end at 168.65 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 1.04% or 0.790 points to 75.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 1.81% to 50.320, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was up 1.50% to settle at 125.55 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 1.15% to close at 67.500.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 2.21% to 4.91 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 1.67% to settle at 34.830 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 1.64% to 63.400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 4.35% to 15.835, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was up 2.74% to settle at 235.90 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 2.38% to close at 49.185.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.75% to 12.730 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 2.65% to settle at 24.025 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.87% to 38.11 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 395 to 355 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.11% to 13.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.46% or 5.79 to $1262.31 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.14% or 0.57 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.52% or 0.80 to trade at $51.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1179, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8702.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 97.27.
