Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.78% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 3.15% or 0.196 points to trade at 6.420 at the close. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) added 1.72% or 0.089 points to end at 5.260 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 1.69% or 0.145 points to 8.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 1.48% or 0.076 points to trade at 5.063 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 1.41% or 0.160 points to end at 11.185 and Viscofan (MC:VIS) shed 1.40% or 0.685 points to 48.235.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 67 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.61% or 7.45 to $1232.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $53.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.09 to trade at $55.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.0595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.8512.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 101.10.
