Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Building & Construction, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 1.58% or 0.310 points to trade at 19.880 at the close. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) added 1.39% or 0.600 points to end at 43.870 and Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) was up 1.12% or 1.50 points to 135.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ACS Const. (MC:ACS), which lost 1.65% or 0.485 points to trade at 28.955 in late trade. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 1.55% or 0.055 points to end at 3.502 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 1.40% or 0.107 points to 7.564.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 88 to 79 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.92% or 11.05 to $1186.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.09% or 1.10 to hit $53.85 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 1.26 to trade at $56.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.0677, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8485.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.66% at 100.57.
